Meet the team.

RON ZIMMER

TEACHING PASTOR
Ron came to Chico as the teaching pastor in the summer of 2002. He spent a decade as a youth pastor in the Pacific Northwest and is a graduate of Northwest Nazarene University. He has two gorgeous adult daughters, two adorable grandkids that he spoils rotten, and a delightfully neurotic dog named Tater.

SAM WOOD

YOUTH AND RECOVERY  PASTOR
 Sam heads up our small-group program, Life Labs.  He also leads the youth group, and he and his wife, Harmony, provide visionary leadership for Serenity, our twelve-step recovery ministry.  Sam is used to watching the Oakland A's never win the last game of the season.

JULIE PORTA

CHILDREN'S  PASTOR
Julie serves our children and is also part of our weekend teaching team. She also directs kids camps for the Sacramento Nazarene District. Julie has a background in education and loves nachos!

KATIE GUILD

OFFICE MANAGER
Katie keeps us organized and runs our lobby team on the weekends.

ANDY SHOEMAKER

TEACHING PASTOR
Andy joined Hope Commons team in 2020. Andy holds a BA in music from Azusa Pacific University and a Masters of Ministry from Point Loma Nazarene University. Andy has been serving in ministry for over 20 years. He is married to his beautiful wife Sarah and they have two boys.

Kelly makes everything better! Kelly takes care of all our facility's upkeep and helps create a warm, inviting atmosphere here at Hope Commons.
